Your Name Is Norwegian Christian
Home And
Health Center. But I Am Neither Norwegian
Nor Christian. Would I Be Welcome There?
This is the question we hear most often.
The answer is an unqualified yes. It is true that we were founded
by Norwegian-Americans to take care of the elderly from Scandinavian
countries. We are still guided by the Christian sense of mission that
has always been with us. But we are a compassionate business organization
that offers its services to all in need who qualify for admission.
Consequently, we welcome people from every nationality and faith.
What Is The Difference Between Your Retirement
Community And Your Assisted Living Facility?
Residents in our Retirement Community
live a totally independent life in their own apartments. They have
access to a wealth of services and conveniences including prepared
meals, recreational facilities, excursions and entertainment. Those
who live in our Assisted Living Facility need, and receive, much more
help with the challenges of daily living, including general medical
oversight, meals, medications and housekeeping.
How Soon Can A Person Be Admitted
To Your Care?
Please contact our
Admissions Coordinator to find out what our current availability is.
Our facilities develop vacancies at unpredictable times, and our estimates
of waiting time are often just educated guesses. We do maintain a
waiting list for those who can anticipate what their future needs
might be.
Is There Any Financial Assistance Available?
We are approved by
the State of New York and the federal government for Medicare and
Medicaid programs. We are fully certificated and licensed for all
of the programs we offer. If there is any question, we cooperate fully
with all of your inquiries, as well as those from your insurance company.
What Kind Of Rehabilitation Programs
Do You Offer?
Our short-term rehabilitation
facility is staffed with physical, speech and occupational therapists
as well as specialist physicians, nurses and technicians. Their experience
includes recovery from joint replacement surgery, sports injuries,
temporary effects of a stroke and other trauma.
What Are Your Visiting Hours?
We welcome visitors
during the normal daytime hours and into the evenings. Children, accompanied
by adults, are also welcome to visit. Considerations for the security
of our residents, patients and staff make it mandatory that all visitors
register in and out and provide positive identification.
Can Your Residents/Patients Leave The Facility
For An Excursion?
Yes.
We may request positive identification of those escorting and/or transporting
our residents. We also provide some trips to nearby shopping centers
and other points of interest, for those who wish to enjoy an outing
and are capable of the effort.
